About
We listen, watch, and improve to support pain relief
As a Physical Therapist starting off at a big orthopedic practice in Denver, CO I quickly got disillusioned with the typical way that PT is done. Overlapping patients, spending over half the session with "warming up on the bike" and doing your same repetitive exercise routine in the clinic, and doing everything the way insurance says we have to. This is a recipe for not just boredom and burnout for me, but much more importantly, subpar patient results.
Just 3 years into my PT career, I had the opportunity to jump ship and spend the next 4 years working at an out-of-network PT clinic in Denver. Here we were allowed flexibility to work as we saw fit, unbound by insurance restrictions. Clients got better faster, noting pain relief in the very first session and by the end having improved movement and confidence in their activities, not worrying about re-injury. People were able to avoid unwanted and unnecessary surgeries and injections.
Here at 616 Physical Therapy we bring this high level of care to the people of Grand Rapids. We do a 75 minute initial evaluation to allow time to discuss all odds and ends of the injury history, do whatever movement assessments are necessary (gait, running, rowing, lifting, balance, etc) AND spend some good time on treatment. Whether it's back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, headaches or anything else, we want you to walk away feeling pain relief in that first session and have a good understanding of what is going on. This session ends with a discussion of what a full treatment and exercise plan of care looked like to get you back to 100%. This is totally individualized and can range from as low as a couple sessions total to ongoing sessions if that's what works best for you. You will never hear the blanket statements of "2x/week for 6-12 weeks" or "just wear a boot for 6 weeks" from me!
If you are someone dealing with a nagging pain or injury and haven't found a great solution yet, I hope to be a part of that solution! Please reach out, I'm always happy to do a free phone consultation first to see if we are a good fit.
